160,000 Civilians Displaced in Syria Following Escalating Armed Clashes

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the recent surge in fighting has resulted in a significant humanitarian crisis, according to statements released by Stéphane Dujarric, Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General. Data gathered up to February 3rd indicates that nearly 160,000 individuals have been forced from their homes in the key governorates of Aleppo, Hasakah, and Raqqa.
Dujarric confirmed that the fighting involves clashes between forces associated with the Jawlani regime and the SDF. A primary concern remains the continuing power outages across the affected areas, which have severely disrupted water pumping systems and critical communication services. Furthermore, the provision of food aid in these locations is facing substantial limitations, hindering immediate relief efforts.
The UN spokesperson also noted that educational activities have been halted in numerous areas due to the instability. Separately, Dujarric mentioned that the UN is currently investigating reports concerning the alleged looting of 70 villages in and around Kobani, as well as the destruction of residential properties. However, he stressed that credible, verified information confirming these specific accounts has not yet been received.
This latest wave of instability follows previous arrangements where elements affiliated with the Jawlani regime entered Hasakah city and the outskirts of Kobani through an agreement struck with SDF elements. Since the fall of the Bashar al-Assad government, Syria has endured prolonged armed confrontations, widespread violence, looting, and chronic instability.
