Larijani: Israel Seeking to Derail Talks and Ignite Regional War

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Ali Larijani, the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, stated in an interview with Al Jazeera television that Washington has not presented any concrete proposal, clarifying that the engagement in Oman constituted solely an exchange of messages.
Larijani further elaborated that negotiations with Washington are ongoing, with regional nations contributing positively toward their success, noting that Iran’s posture on the matter remains favorable. He conveyed that the United States has grasped the necessity of adopting an approach distinct from military options concerning Iran, marking the US inclination toward dialogue as a logical progression.
The Secretary stressed that discussions would not extend beyond the nuclear program, affirming a common ground with Washington regarding Iran’s commitment to not developing nuclear weapons. However, Larijani clarified that the concept of ‘zero enrichment’ is untenable, as Iran requires this capability for both energy production and medical supply manufacturing.
Larijani subsequently warned that the Zionist regime is actively attempting to sabotage the negotiation process, searching for pretexts to escalate hostilities. He cautioned that Israel’s targeting extends beyond Iran itself, aiming instead at overall regional stability. The Iranian official explicitly stated that should the United States initiate an attack on Iran, American military bases situated across the region would become targets.
Concluding his remarks, Larijani acknowledged the constructive mediating role played by Qatar. He also reiterated that Iran’s nuclear technology was not granted but achieved through the nation’s own extensive efforts.
