US Initiates Comprehensive Policy Review Regarding Afghanistan

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, C. Asper Kapoor, the US Deputy Secretary of State, announced that Washington’s strategy concerning Afghanistan is currently undergoing a significant reassessment.
Speaking during a session on Capitol Hill, Kapoor confirmed that various branches of the US administration are examining and revising the nation’s approach to Kabul, with numerous issues related to Afghanistan under close scrutiny.
The American official stated that while he could not provide a precise timeline for concluding this review process, he committed to keeping US lawmakers updated on the latest developments in the matter.
This policy evaluation follows sharp criticism from President Donald Trump regarding the manner of the military withdrawal from Afghanistan executed during the previous administration of Joe Biden. Trump had specifically condemned the decision to leave behind military equipment and abandon Bagram Airfield.
More recently, Zalmay Khalilzad, the former US Special Representative for Afghanistan Peace, indicated that Washington is “very satisfied” with the Taliban’s counter-terrorism efforts, though progress in bilateral relations remains challenged by the issue of detained persons.
