Iraq Transfers 4,500 Captured ISIS Militants from Syrian Prisons

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Army announced that 4,500 individuals detained for belonging to the ISIS terrorist organization have been moved into Iraqi correctional facilities from Syria.
Sabah al-Nu’man, the spokesperson, stated on Thursday that the transfer of these ISIS operatives was executed following precise calculations, ensuring their integration into Iraqi prisons proceeded without incident. This decision, he explained, was driven by a desire to preempt any potential escape by these terrorists from Syrian custody and to prevent them from evolving into time-sensitive security bombs.
The senior Iraqi military official elaborated that the government’s action was courageous and based on meticulous planning and calculated procedures for relocating and imprisoning the militants safely within Iraq. The total number of ISIS members transferred to Iraqi jails has now surpassed 4,500, a process carried out in coordination between Iraqi authorities and the international coalition operating in the region.
Al-Nu’man further stressed that both the Iraqi Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister have repeatedly urged foreign governments to take back their national citizens identified as terrorists and facilitate their return home. He noted that this repatriation constitutes an international responsibility, a call also echoed by the United Nations, yet the global response to Baghdad’s demands remains notably weak.
