US Forces Withdraw from Al-Tanf Base in Syria, Control Transferred

US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the withdrawal of American troops from the Al-Tanf military base near the Syrian borders with Jordan and Iraq. The Syrian Ministry of Defense previously announced that Syrian Army units had taken control of the base in coordination with the US military.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the departure of American forces from the Al-Tanf military outpost situated near the borders separating Syria from Jordan and Iraq.

In an official statement, CENTCOM clarified that the troop withdrawal from the Al-Tanf base in Syria constituted part of a deliberate, condition-based transition process. The command emphasized that despite the drawdown, it maintains the necessary readiness to counter any potential threats emanating from the terrorist group ISIS.

Furthermore, CENTCOM affirmed its continued support for the efforts of regional partners aimed at preventing the resurgence of ISIS within the area. This development follows an earlier announcement by the Syrian Ministry of Defense, which stated separately that units of the Syrian Army, operating in coordination with the US Army, had assumed control over the Al-Tanf base.

According to that report, Syrian border guard forces are scheduled to deploy to the border region with Jordan and Iraq in the coming days, securing the area previously occupied by the American contingent.
