Trump Senior Advisor Signals US Intent to Press Sudanese Factions for Ceasefire

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a senior advisor to United States President Donald Trump, specializing in Arab and African affairs, has publicly stated Washington’s determination to pressure opposing groups within Sudan toward achieving a cessation of hostilities.
Musaad Boulos, the senior advisor to President Trump, emphasized the commitment of the United States government to actively encourage the Sudanese parties engaged in conflict to reach a negotiated ceasefire agreement. Furthermore, Boulos confirmed that a critical meeting concerning the situation in Sudan is slated to take place at the United Nations headquarters next week.
The purpose of this forthcoming United Nations gathering, according to the advisor, is to finalize a structured framework that will govern subsequent rounds of peace talks aimed at resolving the protracted crisis. This diplomatic push follows months of intense internal military conflict that erupted on April 15, 2023, between the Sudanese Armed Forces, led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), commanded by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, widely known as Hemedti.
The roots of the ongoing violence trace back to a significant power struggle concerning the future command structure and the integration process of the RSF into the regular national army, a dispute that intensified following the 2021 military coup. Despite various international mediation efforts undertaken since the conflict began, these initiatives have thus far failed to secure a durable end to the fighting across the nation.
