China Warns US: Taiwan Independence Push Risks Direct Confrontation, Says Foreign Minister Wang Yi

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi issued a stark warning at the Munich Security Conference, asserting that efforts to separate Taiwan from the mainland will inevitably drive Beijing toward a direct confrontation with the United States. Yi emphasized that while China seeks cooperation, it remains fully prepared to counter potential risks regarding its territorial integrity.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi delivered a forceful address at the Munich Security Conference, declaring that any attempt to sever Taiwan from China risks pushing Beijing toward a direct confrontation with Washington. Wang Yi affirmed that Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory and stressed that the principle of “reunification” is non-negotiable, confirming that Beijing has not ruled out the use of force to achieve this goal.

The top Chinese diplomat urged the United States to choose a path of cooperation with Beijing. He cautioned that the formation of various blocs or factions aimed at facilitating Taiwan’s separation constitutes crossing China’s red lines and will result in friction with the US.

In other parts of his speech, Wang Yi called for the revitalization of the United Nations, voicing explicit opposition to unilateral actions taken by certain nations. He strongly advocated for strengthening multilateralism and preventing the domination of smaller countries by a select few powerful states.

Wang Yi deemed the reform and revival of the UN system essential, arguing that while the organization is not currently ideal, it remains the most powerful tool available to guarantee equal rights for all nations. He warned that without the UN framework, the global order would regress to the “law of the jungle.”

Concluding his remarks, the Foreign Minister underscored the necessity of defending a multipolar world and insisting that all countries adhere to uniform rights and established rules. He maintained that no single nation should have the authority to impose its will upon others.
