Iranian Officials Update Maritime Technology Roadmap to 2031 Horizon

According to the Economic Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology has initiated a project to develop a comprehensive and actionable document that charts the trajectory for the nation’s maritime technology development over the next decade, emphasizing a knowledge-based, forward-looking, and cohesive approach.
The existing roadmap, formulated for the 1397 to 1404 (2018–2025) timeframe, provided the foundational intellectual framework for maritime policy-making within the country. However, according to the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology, recent transformations within the blue economy, the burgeoning field of renewable energy, logistics operations, and environmental protection mandate a complete revitalization of the current document.
The new iteration of the roadmap will redefine technologies across crucial sectors, including shipping, ports, marine energy generation, biotechnology, tourism, and defense industries, focusing on an integrated and macro-level perspective. Key objectives for this updated call include conducting foresight analysis with a horizon set for 1410 (2031), designing an agile governance model, and defining priority national projects.
Prospective proposers are required to submit detailed documentation, which must include a description of the executive team, the proposed methodology, a detailed schedule, an itemized financial proposal, and a matrix demonstrating alignment with established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The deadline for the submission of all proposals has been set for the 9th of Esfand, 1404 (February 28, 2026).
