Gaza Health Ministry Demands Permanent Rafah Crossing Opening to Evacuate 20,000 Ailing and Wounded

The Gaza Health Ministry has urgently called for the permanent and unrestricted operation of the Rafah crossing, asserting that limited access is inadequate for the catastrophic medical needs of approximately 20,000 patients and injured individuals awaiting treatment abroad. Meanwhile, civilian casualties continue amid ongoing Israeli military operations across the enclave.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Ministry of Health in Gaza has announced that 20,000 patients and wounded individuals are currently awaiting departure from the Strip to receive essential medical services elsewhere. The Ministry strongly emphasized that the current limited operation of the Rafah border crossing is incompatible with the disastrous scale of the medical crisis.

In response, the ministry issued a direct demand for the permanent and regular opening of the crossing without any restrictions, ensuring smooth transit for the sick and wounded. This appeal comes as military activity persists throughout the Gaza Strip.

Separately, Mahmoud Basal, the spokesperson for the Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip, provided an update on the field situation, reporting that at least 11 people have been martyred since dawn today (Sunday) due to continuous attacks by the Israeli army on various areas of Gaza. Basal confirmed that specialized Civil Defense teams and paramedics are actively working to evacuate the injured and recover the bodies of the deceased from beneath the rubble.

The Civil Defense spokesperson issued a grave warning, stating that the death toll is highly likely to increase in the coming hours due to the sustained bombardment and targeting of residential areas. Mahmoud Basal stressed that this escalation in attacks is part of an ongoing chain of aggression against civilians in the Gaza Strip, which severely complicates the operating environment for rescue teams. Previous reports had indicated that one person was martyred and several others wounded following an Israeli drone firing on residents in Beit Lahia in northern Gaza.
