Jordanian Court Sentences Three Young Men to 10 Years for Plotting Attacks Against Israel

Jordan’s State Security Court handed down 10-year prison sentences to three young Jordanian men accused of attempting to infiltrate the West Bank and target Israeli interests. The defendants were convicted of actions deemed to jeopardize the Kingdom and invite retaliatory measures, according to reports published by Mehr News Agency.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Jordan‘s State Security Court has sentenced three young nationals to a decade in prison for plotting infiltrations and attacks targeting Israeli objectives. The court convicted the individuals, identified as Mohammed Al-Oufi, Malik Al-Ghanem, and Qutada Al-Adasi, in a closed-door indictment.

The charges against the three men, who were apprehended approximately eight months ago, included engaging in activities that could expose the Hashemite Kingdom to hostile acts and subject Jordanian citizens to reprisal measures. In addition to the main charges, the trio was also convicted of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition intended for unlawful use.

The court alleged that the individuals intended to carry out operations against Israeli occupiers during the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza. The indictment specified that the young men had received funds from an individual residing in Iraq, identified as Abu Dharr, which they used to purchase an AK-47 rifle and individual weaponry.

Initially, the group reportedly considered targeting Israeli tourists in popular destinations such as Wadi Rum and Petra but were allegedly unable to locate any tourists for an attack. Their apprehension occurred after authorities monitored their visits to border areas between Jordan and Occupied Palestine, during which they attempted to breach the frontier to execute their planned operations against Israeli targets.

Jordanian state courts have repeatedly convicted and imprisoned groups in recent months who were found to be planning operations against the Zionist occupiers or demonstrating ties to the resistance in Gaza.
