According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, an Iranian parliamentary delegation headed by Ebrahim Azizi, Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, met with Mashal bin Fahm Al-Sallami, Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council of Saudi Arabia, for discussions. During the meeting, both sides underscored the importance of enhancing bilateral relations by activating parliamentary diplomacy.

Noushabadi, Director General of Parliamentary Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who attended the meeting, stated that the talks were conducted in a friendly and cordial atmosphere. Both sides shared their perspectives on political, economic, and parliamentary matters, emphasizing the need for cooperation and exchange of views on regional and international issues.

Noushabadi added that during the meeting between the parliamentary delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Deputy Speaker of the Saudi Shura Council, both parties highlighted the numerous commonalities and shared interests between the Iranian and Saudi peoples. They stressed the importance of increased interaction between the parliaments of the two countries, activating parliamentary diplomacy, and leveraging the capacities of friendship groups and specialized committees.

The Director General of Parliamentary and Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also noted that the positions of both countries in confronting the expansionist policies of the Zionist regime and condemning its aggression against the Islamic Republic during the 12-day war presented an opportunity for greater convergence between the two nations. This convergence, he added, would facilitate coordinated stances against foreign aggressive powers and prevent further provocations by the usurping Israeli regime, marking another significant point raised during the session.

The delegation, as part of its engagements with Saudi parliamentary officials, also met with the Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Saudi Shura Council. During this meeting, emphasis was placed on the necessity of political and parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, as well as the need for the parliaments and governments to adopt common positions on regional issues and incidents. This aims to prevent tensions and the adventurous behaviors of the Zionist regime and certain foreign governments.

The Iranian parliamentary delegation also attended a public session of the Saudi Shura Council.
