Iraqi MP Warns Syrian Developments Pose Direct Threat to National Security

A member of the Iraqi Parliament has stated that recent developments in Syria, including escalating armed conflicts and the escape of ISIS leaders, represent a significant threat to Iraq’s national security. The parliamentarian highlighted concerns over terrorist movements along the Iraqi border.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Haidar Hamed, a member of the Iraqi Parliament, emphasized that the recent developments in Syria, particularly the armed clashes between elements of the Julani regime and the Syrian Democratic Forces, alongside the widespread escape of ISIS leaders from the country’s prisons to unknown locations, constitute a serious threat to Iraq’s security. Hamed added that Iraq’s border regions are witnessing the movements of terrorist elements, and terrorists transferring from Syria to Iraq must be prosecuted. He warned, referring to the escape of dangerous elements from Al-Hol camp, that these individuals could once again carry out terrorist acts in Iraq and Syria in the future.
