Iraq Receives 150 Underage ISIS Members from Syria

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iraq has received 150 ISIS operatives under the age of 18 who were recently transferred from Syria. Ahmed Al-Laibi, spokesperson for the Iraqi Ministry of Justice, announced this development, emphasizing that the move is part of a broader strategy to combat terrorism and safeguard regional security.
Al-Laibi highlighted that due to the young age of these individuals and the unsuitability of housing them with adult prisoners, the Ministry of Justice has devised specific arrangements for them. These measures are being implemented in full compliance with legal regulations and approved humanitarian standards.
The spokesperson further explained that separate halls and rooms have been designated within the existing prisons that house other ISIS elements. This segregation aims to prevent any inappropriate contact between the underage detainees and adult inmates. This approach underscores Iraq’s commitment to upholding the rights of children and adolescents, even when dealing with individuals associated with terrorist groups.
