Several Arab nations have announced that Wednesday will mark the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan. This decision follows astronomical observations and calculations to determine the sighting of the moon.

The countries that have declared Wednesday as the first day of Ramadan include Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Palestine, and Lebanon. These nations will begin their fasting period accordingly.

In contrast, Oman, Jordan, Syria, and Egypt have stated that the crescent moon was not sighted, and therefore, Thursday will be the second day of the Islamic month, with the first day of Ramadan being observed on Thursday.
