Macron and Modi Assert Independence: France and India Reject All Forms of Domination

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, during a three-day visit to India, French President Emmanuel Macron stated at a joint press conference with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mumbai that Paris and New Delhi will not accept any form of domination, underscoring their adherence to the rule of law and international norms.
Speaking at the press conference held in Mumbai, India’s financial hub, Macron articulated, “We believe in a third way, in a free and open Indo-Pacific region, in cooperation on defense technology and trade, and in the firm resolve not to surrender to any form of domination.”
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted Macron in Mumbai, where delegation-level discussions between the two countries took place. Emmanuel Macron further emphasized the shared belief of both nations in the rule of law, predictability, and “effective multilateralism.” The French President noted that the relations between Paris and New Delhi are experiencing “a phase of significant acceleration” in response to the evolving international order. He stressed the importance of the concept of strategic autonomy for both countries, stating that France and India share the same perspective on this matter.
