UN Declares Israeli Settlements Violate International Law

The United Nations has condemned Israeli settlement expansion in the West Bank as a clear violation of international law, emphasizing the urgency of advancing a two-state solution.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the United Nations has declared Israel’s settlement activities in the West Bank as a clear violation of international law. Stéphane Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, stated in an interview with Al Jazeera that the expansionist policies of the Israeli regime in the West Bank are an “outright violation of international law.” He sharply criticized recent statements by some Israeli cabinet ministers who support the complete elimination of the so-called “two-state solution,” asserting, “Israel’s decisions facilitate the expulsion of Palestinians from their lands in the West Bank and are a factor for instability in the region.” Dujarric further clarified that António Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, will continue to exert pressure on member states to take action to advance a political process leading to the so-called two-state solution. He concluded by stating, “We have no alternative but the two-state solution before us.” The United Nations reiterates its commitment to a political process that upholds international law and aims for a just and lasting peace.
