Ukraine Peace Talks Continue with US Involvement Aiming for Agreement

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Special Envoy Steve Whitcoff stated on social media platform X after the initial day of the third round of Ukraine peace negotiations that the parties have agreed to present the outcomes of their discussions to their presidents and to continue the negotiation process to reach an agreement.
Whitcoff added that the Russian and Ukrainian delegations have committed to continuing their efforts to achieve peace. The third round of peace talks for Ukraine was held as a trilateral meeting, involving representatives from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States, in Geneva, the capital of Switzerland.
Despite multiple rounds of negotiations, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine persists. Territorial disputes are considered the most significant obstacle to reaching an agreement between the two sides. Both Russia and Ukraine are striving to gain the initiative on the battlefield and in negotiations by preserving and expanding the territories they control.
Earlier, Matthew Whitaker, the U.S. Permanent Representative to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), had indicated that Washington anticipates the issue of territorial disputes will be resolved in the coming days and weeks. He also noted that participants in the negotiation process for resolving the Ukraine crisis are currently working on four final documents: a 20-point peace plan, a set of multilateral security assurances, specific U.S. security assurances, and an economic growth and prosperity plan post-peace.
