Zelensky Claims US Blocked European Patriot Missile Production

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Washington opposed plans for establishing a production line for Patriot missiles in Europe, despite Kyiv’s proposals for domestic manufacturing and partnerships with NATO allies. This comes as Ukraine faces a severe shortage of these air defense missiles.
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that Kyiv has engaged in discussions with Washington over the past years concerning the necessity of launching a missile production line within Europe, specifically for Patriot missiles. He indicated that assurances were given to grant authorization for this endeavor, but the United States ultimately did not consent.
Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine had put forward a proposal for this production to take place on its own territory, in collaboration with Romania, Poland, and other NATO partners. These remarks surface at a time when Ukraine’s air defense system is experiencing a significant deficit in Patriot missile supplies.
