Peruvian President Ousted Amid Secret Meetings Scandal with Chinese Businessman

Peru’s President Jose Jerry has been impeached by Congress just four months into his term following revelations of clandestine meetings with a Chinese merchant. The nation now faces a presidential election in April.
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Peru‘s Congress has impeached President Jose Jerry, removing him from office only four months after he began his tenure. The impeachment follows a scandal involving secret meetings with a Chinese businessman. The decision was made during a congressional vote where 75 lawmakers supported Jerry’s removal, with 24 voting against and three abstaining.
Following this impeachment, the President of Peru’s Congress will assume the responsibilities of interim president, managing the country’s affairs until new elections are held. Jerry is the third consecutive president in Peru to be removed from their post. National elections to select a new president are scheduled for April 12.
