Russia Urges U.S. Prudence in Cuba Relations, Reaffirms Support for Havana

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodríguez in Moscow, reiterating Moscow’s full backing for Havana and calling on the United States to act with discretion regarding Cuba, specifically urging an end to maritime blockade plans.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized Moscow’s complete support for Havana during a meeting with his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodríguez, in Moscow.

Lavrov urged the United States to exercise prudence in its dealings with Cuba and to abandon any plans for a maritime blockade. He dismissed claims that cooperation between Moscow and Havana poses a threat to Washington or any other party, stating that Russia will support Cuba in safeguarding its security.

The Russian Foreign Minister underscored the necessity of resolving all issues through dialogue and exchange of views. During the meeting, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez stated that the United States is exerting pressure on Havana, an action he described as a violation of international law.

Rodríguez added that the Cuban people are currently facing significant challenges, and the country’s situation is deteriorating due to American policies. He further clarified that the relationship between Russia and Cuba is both historic and strategic in nature.
