Russia Claims Western Interference Hinders Moscow-Kyiv Peace Talks

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia has accused Western powers of actively preventing peace between Moscow and Kyiv. Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the West lacks the desire to establish peace between Moscow and Washington. Addressing the Ukraine negotiations held in Geneva, Zakharova reiterated Russia’s consistent demonstration of readiness for peace, while suggesting the opposing side deems negotiations unnecessary for various pretexts.
She emphasized that the West is making every effort to impede the establishment of peace between Russia and Ukraine. Concurrently, Vladimir Medinsky, head of the Russian negotiation delegation in Geneva, characterized the talks as difficult but constructive and professional, announcing that a new round of negotiations is scheduled for the near future.
The third round of peace negotiations for Ukraine, attended by representatives from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States, took place in Geneva. Despite diplomatic endeavors, the war between Russia and Ukraine persists, with territorial disputes identified as the primary obstacle to reaching an agreement.
Both engaged parties are striving to gain the initiative on the battlefield and in the negotiation arena by preserving and expanding their controlled territories. Earlier, Matthew Whitaker, the U.S. Permanent Representative to NATO, had indicated that Washington anticipates clarity on territorial disputes in the coming weeks.
He further elaborated that negotiators are working on four final documents, which include a 20-point peace plan, a set of multilateral security guarantees, specific U.S. security assurances, and a post-peace economic growth program. Territorial issues remain the most significant impediment to the success of negotiations between the two sides.
