Kremlin Denies US Claims of Russia and China Violating Nuclear Test Moratorium

The Kremlin has firmly rejected United States allegations that Russia and China have violated the decades-long moratorium on nuclear weapons testing. Moscow maintains its commitment to the cessation of nuclear tests and points to similar adherence from Beijing.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced on Tuesday that Russia and China remain committed to the halt of nuclear tests. Peskov categorically denied U.S. claims suggesting Moscow and Beijing have breached the long-standing moratorium on explosive nuclear testing.

“This is not true. Neither the Chinese nor the Russians have violated it. Beijing also firmly rejects such accusations and remains committed to the cessation of nuclear tests,” Peskov stated during a press conference in Moscow.

The Kremlin spokesperson also highlighted Moscow’s interest in cooperating with Washington, but noted that sanctions imposed by the U.S. hinder commercial and economic engagement between the two nations. “Sanctions, which of course we consider illegal, impede the establishment of commercial and economic interaction between Russia and America. We are interested in its development. Potentially, many projects could be on the agenda, but to achieve this, we need to revive our relations,” he explained.

In response to a question regarding the U.S. fuel blockade of Cuba, Peskov commented, “We have bilateral relations with Cuba; these relations are very important to us, and we are developing them in every possible way.”
