US and Chinese Fighter Jets Briefly Confront Near Korean Peninsula

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. and Chinese fighter jets had a brief confrontation over waters near the Korean Peninsula last week, an occurrence deemed uncommon in the region between the two major powers. Yonhap News Agency reported this development, citing anonymous military sources. On Wednesday, approximately 10 U.S. fighter jets departed from Pyeongtaek Air Base to conduct maneuvers over international waters off the western coast of South Korea. While the American aircraft did not enter China’s air defense identification zone, Beijing promptly dispatched its own planes upon the U.S. aircraft’s proximity to the area. The state-run Global Times, also referencing anonymous sources, detailed the incident, stating that the People’s Liberation Army organized naval and air forces to monitor activities and respond effectively according to established rules and regulations during the operation.
