Crescent Moon Aligns With Venus, Mercury, and Saturn in Winter Twilight Sky

Just two days after a recent annular solar eclipse, a slender crescent Moon emerged above the western horizon during the winter twilight, creating a stunning celestial alignment with three bright planets.

According to the Economic Desk of Webangah News Agency, a striking astronomical display unfolded in the winter gloaming, featuring a slim crescent Moon appearing just two days following an annular solar eclipse in February.

Reported by NASA, the young Moon, dimly illuminated on its dark side by Earthshine, joined three brilliant planets above the relatively clear early evening sky, as captured over the Turkish village of Karazli.

The innermost planet, Venus, positioned itself closest to the horizon. Shining brilliantly, Venus is visible through the warm glow of the sunset, near the beginning of its tenure as Earth’s evening star in 2026, and sits near the center of the photograph. Directly above Venus, the inner planet Mercury is easily distinguishable, remaining noticeably higher above the horizon even as the twilight deepened.

Farthest out among the visible trio, the outer planet Saturn is situated immediately to the left of the bright lunar crescent.

The solar system comprises four inner planets—Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars—which orbit closer to the Sun, and the four outer planets—Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune—which orbit farther away.
