Russian Forces Capture Karpivka Settlement in Donetsk, Air Defense Downs Ukrainian Missiles

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the capture of the settlement of Karpivka in the Donetsk region by its armed forces. Russian air defense systems also successfully intercepted multiple Ukrainian projectiles over the past 24 hours.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Russian Ministry of Defense has announced that the settlement of “Karpivka” in the Donetsk region has been captured by the country’s armed forces. The ministry also reported that Russian air defense systems successfully shot down five long-range “Flamingo” missiles, one guided aerial bomb, and seven “HIMARS” missiles over the past 24 hours.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense had reported intercepting and destroying 77 Ukrainian drones over various regions of the country, including Krasnodar, Crimea, and Kursk, during the night.

The third round of peace talks concerning Ukraine, with representatives from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States present, was held in Geneva, Switzerland. However, despite several rounds of negotiations, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues, with territorial issues remaining the most significant obstacle to reaching an agreement. Both sides are striving to gain the initiative on the battlefield and at the negotiating table by maintaining and expanding their controlled territories.

Matthew Whittaker, the Permanent Representative of the United States to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), had previously expressed hope that the issue of territorial disputes would be resolved in the coming days and weeks. He also stated that participants in the negotiation process for resolving the Ukraine crisis are working on four final documents, which include a 20-point peace plan, a set of multilateral security guarantees, specific U.S. security assurances, and a plan for post-peace economic growth and prosperity.
