Iraqi Lawful State Coalition: US Cannot Impose Will on Iraq

The Iraqi Lawful State Coalition asserts that national will dictates the selection of Iraqi leaders, asserting that external pressures will not alter internal political agreements. US influence in Iraqi politics is acknowledged, but its capacity to impose its agenda is denied.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Walid Al-Asadi, a member of Iraq‘s Lawful State Coalition, stated that the choice of Iraqi leaders is based on national will and that foreign pressures will never be able to change the course of internal political agreements. He added that the United States has always been present in Iraq’s internal political developments, but will never be able to impose its will on the country. Al-Asadi specified that Iraqi political forces can reach desirable outcomes and necessary agreements despite existing challenges. Al-Asadi described foreign intervention as a clear interference in Iraq’s internal affairs and emphasized that the Coordination Framework alliance will have the final say in determining the candidate for the prime minister post, not foreign pressures. Previously, Donald Trump, the President of the United States, had announced his opposition to the nomination of Nouri al-Maliki for the prime minister position in two interventionist stances.
