US Launches ‘Tech Corps’ to Deploy AI Experts Abroad for Global Development

According to the Economic Desk of Webangah News Agency, the United States has launched its latest initiative, the ‘Tech Corps,’ a governmental organization that sends its members to volunteer in foreign nations. This program recruits graduates in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields, as well as individuals with professional experience in artificial intelligence, and deploys them to other countries.
As stated in a press release, volunteers will be stationed in countries alongside the ‘Tech Corps’ or ‘Peace Corps,’ which are integral parts of America’s artificial intelligence export strategy. This initiative was established last year through an executive order by U.S. President Donald Trump as a means to bolster American dominance in the international artificial intelligence market.
Members of the ‘Tech Corps’ are tasked with applying artificial intelligence to address challenges in agriculture, education, health, and economic development. The program offers participants in-person assignments ranging from 12 to 27 months or virtual job positions. These positions include provisions for housing, healthcare, a living stipend, and a volunteer service award for those deployed overseas.
Richard Swarttz, the acting director of the Peace Corps, remarked in a press release that ‘Tech Corps’ volunteers are crucial for building technical capacity, encouraging the adoption of AI in critical use cases, and overcoming final-stage implementation hurdles for artificial intelligence.
While the ‘Tech Corps’ program is designed to benefit host countries, it will also serve to solidify the United States’ position in the rapidly expanding global artificial intelligence market, which faces increasing competition from China.
