Palestinian Prisoners Endure Harsh Conditions During Ramadan, Rights Groups Report

Palestinian prisoners are reportedly facing severe hardships during the holy month of Ramadan, with rights organizations highlighting inadequate food provisions and increased punitive measures in detention facilities. The situation has been exacerbated by a surge in new arrests since the beginning of Ramadan.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Palestinian sources have reported dire conditions for Palestinian prisoners during the blessed month of Ramadan. This information is based on data published by the Mehr News Agency.

The Palestinian Center for Prisoner Studies stated that over 9,500 Palestinian prisoners are observing Ramadan under unfavorable circumstances. The center further indicated that these prisoners are not only enduring harsh conditions but are also facing escalated punitive actions from the occupying forces. They have been deprived of adequate meals for Suhoor, the pre-dawn meal, and have limited opportunities for congregational prayers.

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society announced that since the commencement of Ramadan, more than one hundred Palestinians have been detained.
