Iraq’s Prime Ministerial Candidate Nouri al-Maliki Pledges Regional and International Cooperation

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Nouri al-Maliki, a candidate for Iraq‘s prime minister, has stated that national responsibility compels him to work towards reforming the political process by utilizing his expertise. Al-Maliki, the only contender put forward by the Shiite Coordination Framework for the premiership, reiterated his belief in a democratic and civil Iraq that welcomes healthy international engagement with countries such as the United States and Europe.
He further added that Iraq’s identity is distinctly Iraqi, rooted in the will of its people, and that decisions made will primarily stem from the interests of the Iraqi populace. The former Iraqi Prime Minister highlighted that Iraq extends its hand for regional and international cooperation and convergence to secure the interests of the people in the region and the world.
