ISIS Attacks Syrian Regime Checkpoint in Deir Ezzor

Local sources in Syria report that an ISIS-affiliated group targeted a Syrian regime checkpoint in the eastern Deir Ezzor province, following a series of recent attacks by the terrorist organization against Syrian security forces.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, local sources in Syria have announced that a group affiliated with the terrorist organization ISIS targeted one of the checkpoints belonging to the Syrian regime forces in the city of Al-Buseira, located in the eastern suburbs of Deir Ezzor.

Syrian news outlets also reported that unidentified assailants assassinated a member of the regime forces near the city of Tal Abyad in northern Raqqa.

These attacks come as Syrian sources reported an ISIS assault on the country’s security forces just yesterday. A security source told Syrian television that a security officer was killed and another was injured in an attack by ISIS elements on the Al-Subaihiyah checkpoint at the western entrance of the city of Raqqa.

Previously, ISIS issued a strong statement describing the new Syrian government as a “secular and apostate” regime and declared war against it a religious obligation to cleanse the Levant.
