Samsung to Integrate Perplexity AI into Next-Generation Galaxy S26 Smartphones

According to the Economic Desk of Webangah News Agency, Samsung’s forthcoming flagship devices, expected to be the Galaxy S26 models, will integrate Perplexity AI. This move is part of Samsung’s broader strategy to support multiple AI agents within its ‘Galaxy AI’ suite.

The Perplexity AI agent is designed to operate seamlessly with applications such as Samsung Notes, Clock, Gallery, Reminder, and Calendar. Additionally, it is slated to receive support from select third-party applications, though Samsung has not yet disclosed which ones.

This announcement comes just days before Samsung’s anticipated ‘Galaxy Unpacked’ event, suggesting that further details regarding this integration and its synergy with Samsung’s revamped Bixby assistant will be revealed soon.

Current information indicates that the Perplexity AI agent will respond to the wake word ‘Hey Plex’ and can also be activated through physical controls for quick access.

Won-Joon Choi, Corporate EVP and Head of the Mobile Business R&D Office at Samsung Electronics, stated in a release that the expansion of Galaxy AI aims to provide users with greater choice and flexibility in completing their tasks. He elaborated that Galaxy AI acts as a coordinator, bringing together various forms of artificial intelligence into a single, natural, and cohesive experience.

Samsung had previously announced a collaboration with Perplexity last year to incorporate the company’s AI search engine into Samsung televisions. However, Perplexity has faced scrutiny and legal challenges related to alleged content theft and copyright infringement, including a lawsuit filed in September.
