Germany: Russia Not Serious About Talks; Europe Vows Continued Support for Kyiv

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has stated that while Germany seeks to facilitate an agreement regarding Ukraine, Russia’s refusal to conduct serious negotiations is the main impediment to progress. She added that Europe stands with Ukraine and is prepared for discussions if Russia presents concrete concessions.
A third round of peace talks concerning Ukraine was held in Geneva, Switzerland, involving representatives from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States. Despite multiple negotiation rounds, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine persists, with territorial issues identified as the most significant barrier to reaching an agreement between the two parties.
Both Russia and Ukraine are striving to gain the initiative on the battlefield and at the negotiation table by preserving and expanding their controlled territories. Earlier, Matthew Whittaker, the U.S. Permanent Representative to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), had indicated that Washington anticipates a resolution on territorial disputes in the coming days and weeks. He also noted that participants in the Ukraine crisis resolution process are currently working on four final documents: a 20-point peace plan, a set of multilateral security guarantees, specific U.S. security assurances, and a post-peace economic growth and prosperity plan.
