Hamas Denounces ‘Systematic Torture’ of Palestinian Prisoners in Negev Jail

Hamas has condemned the escalating punitive measures and ‘systematic torture’ against Palestinian prisoners in Israel’s Negev prison, warning of increased tensions and calling for wider public support.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Hamas movement announced in a statement that the intensification of punitive actions in the prisons of the Zionist regime, particularly in the Negev prison, is part of an official approach to exert pressure on Palestinian prisoners. This statement was based on data published by the Mehr News Agency.

Mahmoud Mardawi, a senior Hamas leader, highlighted the surge in torture, medical neglect, and deprivation of basic necessities like food and water for prisoners during the holy month of Ramadan. He emphasized that these measures are designed to break the will and undermine the resilience of Palestinian prisoners.

Mardawi placed full responsibility for the consequences of this trend on the occupying authorities and cautioned about the potential for escalating tensions within the prisons. He further asserted that these policies will not lead to the surrender of the prisoners and urged Palestinians in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and other areas to expand popular and protest movements in solidarity with the detainees.
