Russia Captures Velyka Dymerka in Zaporizhzhia, Peace Talks Continue

Russian forces have reportedly captured the town of Velyka Dymerka in the Zaporizhzhia region, as a third round of trilateral peace negotiations involving Russia, Ukraine, and the United States convenes in Geneva.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced in a statement that its armed forces have successfully liberated the town of ‘Velyka Dymerka’ in the Zaporizhzhia region. The ministry also reported striking transport and energy infrastructure facilities that are alleged to have been connected with the Ukrainian armed forces.

Concurrently, the third round of Ukraine peace negotiations is underway in Geneva, Switzerland, conducted in a trilateral format with representatives from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States participating.

Despite multiple rounds of talks, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine persists, with territorial disputes identified as the most significant obstacle to reaching an agreement between the two sides. Both Russia and Ukraine are seeking to gain the initiative on the battlefield and at the negotiation table by maintaining and expanding their controlled territories.

Previously, Matthew Whitaker, the U.S. Permanent Representative to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), stated that Washington anticipates territorial disputes will be resolved in the coming days and weeks. He also noted that participants in the process to resolve the Ukraine crisis are currently working on four final documents. These include a 20-point peace plan, a set of multilateral security guarantees, specific U.S. security assurances, and a plan for economic growth and prosperity post-peace.
