Canada Imposes New Sanctions on Russian Individuals, Entities, and Ships

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Canada has imposed new sanctions on Russian individuals, entities, and ships. Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anita Anand, announced that more than 50 Russian individuals and legal entities, predominantly from the energy sector, are now subject to sanctions from Ottawa.
According to a statement published on the Canadian government’s website, the country will implement sanctions against 21 individuals, 53 entities, and 100 vessels belonging to Russia’s shadow fleet. Furthermore, Canada has reduced the price cap on Russian crude oil from 47.60 U.S. dollars per barrel to 44.10 U.S. dollars per barrel.
These new measures by Canada are intended to increase the economic costs for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and to degrade the country’s military capabilities, including in areas such as artificial intelligence and drone production. Canada claims these sanctions will restrict Russia’s energy revenues and financial resources.
