US Ambassador to Beirut: Ceasefire to Be Established in Lebanon

U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon, Michelle Sison, met with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, announcing that a comprehensive ceasefire will be established and affirming that there is no link between the Trump administration and Hezbollah.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon, Michelle Sison, met with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri. Following the meeting, Sison stated that a ceasefire would be established and described it as comprehensive. She also asserted that there is no connection between the Trump administration and Hezbollah, dismissing reports of any such link as inaccurate.

The ambassador further indicated that Israel would withdraw from Lebanon, returning land and prisoners. She emphasized the U.S. priority for the return of residents, commencement of reconstruction, establishment of infrastructure like roads and electricity, and for the situation to serve as a model.

Responding to questions about the ceasefire’s establishment and Berri’s agreement, particularly given the initial lack of explicit confirmation in Berri’s statement, Sison reiterated, “The ceasefire will be established, and our decision was for it to be comprehensive, but something needed clarification, which we clarified today.”

Regarding the previous day’s targeting of Beirut’s Dahiyeh neighborhood, Sison claimed it was in response to Hezbollah’s attacks.

On the subject of destroyed villages and the U.S. government’s stance, she commented, “You know what we do in Washington and why we meet every week or two. We know what is happening in the south. All we want is for this [attack] to stop. We were able to establish a ceasefire, and each party must understand what is required of them, and then the attacks will stop.”

When asked if she received assurances from Berri regarding Hezbollah’s commitment to a ceasefire, she directed the question to the Parliament Speaker, adding, “Berri answered me, and we will see later.”

Sison concluded by stating, “The most important thing you need to know is that we are doing everything we can to stop the war. President Trump talks about Lebanon daily, meaning Lebanon’s situation is important to us, and we want it to become an independent country. You know who gives orders to Hezbollah.”
