Iraqi Leader Hadi Al-Amiri Condemns Saudi-US Attack on Popular Mobilization Forces
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hadi Al-Amiri, Secretary-General of the Badr Organization, has strongly denounced the joint Saudi-American attack that resulted in casualties among the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF). Al-Amiri described the act as a renewed display of Riyadh’s hostile approach and a clear violation of Iraq’s sovereignty, emphasizing the necessity for a unified national stance to defend the country’s territorial integrity.
The statement declared: “We condemn in the strongest terms the audacious and unjustifiable aggression by Saudi forces, with American air support, against Iraq’s sovereignty, its armed forces, and the headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces at several locations within Iraqi territory, which led to the martyrdom and injury of a number of brave members of the PMF.”
The statement further urged the Iraqi government to adopt a firm position against this transgression of national sovereignty and the targeting of valiant forces who have played a pivotal role in ensuring the nation’s security and stability, and who continue to pursue the remnants of ISIS terrorist groups.
Al-Amiri stressed that Iraqis were shocked by this overt aggression from a neighboring country to which Iraq has consistently extended a hand of fraternity and cooperation, and with which it has demonstrated utmost patience and restraint during difficult years. He noted this occurred while terrorist groups used that country as a base for their operations, benefiting from support and facilities that facilitated the deployment of thousands of suicide bombers and car bombs, and aided in the formation of terrorist factions responsible for shedding the blood of the Iraqi people and hindering Iraq’s path to security and stability.
Expressing profound regret over Saudi Arabia’s hostile stance toward Iraq, Hadi Al-Amiri accused Riyadh of instigating sedition and attempting to ignite a war. He reiterated that while Baghdad has consistently sought to de-escalate tensions through good neighborly policies, regional cooperation, and opening a new chapter in relations, the Saudi regime has undertaken these actions without any valid reason or evidence, aiming to undermine Iraq’s pivotal and stabilizing role in the region.
The Secretary-General of the Badr Organization also highlighted the legal and ethical responsibilities of the United States in supporting this attack, accusing Washington of bad faith and violating the joint security agreement. He added, “Instead of respecting Iraq’s sovereignty and fulfilling its commitments to defend the country’s territory and armed forces, the United States has adopted a hostile behavior. This necessitates a complete and comprehensive review of all agreements and relations with the United States, particularly the bilateral security pact, in order to preserve Iraq’s national interests, dignity, and sovereignty.”
Al-Amiri concluded by praying for the souls of the martyrs of this attack and for the swift recovery of the wounded, emphasizing that the region stands at a sensitive juncture requiring a unified, national, and Iraqi stance to defend sovereignty and protect the lives of the Iraqi people.
