Norway Declares War on Iran as Violation of International Law
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Norway has asserted that initiating a war against Iran would be a breach of international laws. This position was communicated by the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, who highlighted that his nation was among the initial Western countries to explicitly state this stance, emphasizing Iran’s inherent right to self-defense, irrespective of existing disagreements.
During a joint press conference with his Pakistani counterpart, Isaac Dar, in Islamabad, Espen Barth Eide stated, “Even if we have fundamental differences with Iran on other issues, this country, like all of us, has the right to defend itself.” He also commended Pakistan’s peace efforts.
Eide further noted that Norway, recognized as a “major maritime power,” shares common interests with Pakistan in maintaining maritime routes and safeguarding freedom of navigation.
The Norwegian Foreign Minister also engaged in consultations with his Pakistani counterpart on bilateral issues and regional developments concerning Kashmir, Afghanistan, Palestine, and the trilateral agreement known as the Mecca Accord. This visit marks the first by a Norwegian Foreign Minister to Pakistan in a decade.
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Isaac Dar, reiterated the importance of de-escalating tensions in the Middle East. Speaking at the press conference, Dar stressed the necessity of reducing regional tensions and called for further dialogue to achieve this objective. He also underscored the imperative of pursuing peaceful resolutions to conflicts and settling international disputes based on established laws.
