Syrian Regime Signals Readiness for Security Talks with Israel Amidst Calls for De-escalation

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Syria‘s Foreign Minister, Assaad Al-Sheibani, stated in an interview with Reuters that security talks with Israel are anticipated to restart shortly. He noted that communication with Israel had ceased after an attack on the Abu al-Duhur airbase on August 18, adding that Syria currently lacks trust in Israel and prioritizes an end to attacks against the country. Al-Sheibani extended Syria’s hand toward diplomacy, urging Israel to seize this historical opportunity. He asserted that Israel’s attempts to secure itself through power and force have proven unsuccessful. These statements from the Syrian Foreign Minister come as the Israeli regime has continued its attacks against Syria since the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad, despite Syria’s alignment with Tel Aviv’s positions. The Syrian regime, without taking practical measures to halt these aggressions, has consistently spoken of the necessity for an agreement and negotiation with Tel Aviv.
