Iranian Delegation to Attend Shanghai Cooperation Organization Economic Ministers Meeting
According to the Economic Desk of Webangah News Agency, Seyed Mohammad Sadegh Ghanadzadeh, Deputy for Commercial Services at the Iran Trade Promotion Organization, announced that an Iranian delegation, headed by Mohammad Sadegh Mofateh, will attend the 25th meeting of the SCO Ministers responsible for Foreign Economic and Trade Affairs. The meeting is scheduled for September 17, 2026, in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
Ghanadzadeh highlighted the summit as a significant opportunity to pursue operational approaches for developing trade among member states and leveraging existing capacities to deepen economic cooperation. Key discussion points include boosting mutual trade, removing trade barriers, simplifying and improving customs and trade procedures, and strengthening transportation corridors and logistics networks.
He emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran, with its extensive transit capabilities and strategic position, will vigorously pursue these objectives. Further agenda items encompass strengthening industrial and investment cooperation, enhancing the resilience of supply chains and production, and advancing economic collaborations. Ghanadzadeh noted that global economic shifts increasingly necessitate the formation of stable supply chains and the creation of new production and trade links among SCO members.
The participation of the Iranian delegation, led by Mofateh, is seen as a prime opportunity to showcase Iran’s trade and investment potential, address trade development obstacles, expand industrial and logistical cooperation, and bolster Iran’s standing within the SCO’s regional trade network.
Ghanadzadeh underscored the growing importance of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in regional economic dynamics. He stated that within the framework of its membership, Iran pursues economic relations with member states with a results-oriented approach, prioritizing the utilization of trade, transit, energy, investment, and industrial cooperation capacities to increase the volume and diversity of exchanges.
