Pakistan Claims Airstrikes in Afghanistan Killed 28 ‘Terrorists’

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Pakistan‘s Ministry of Information reported on Monday that 28 “terrorists” and suicide bombers were eliminated in airstrikes conducted within Afghanistan. The Pakistani strikes reportedly focused on three specific targets across the border.

These airstrikes follow earlier reports of an early Monday morning Pakistani aerial assault on Kunar Province in eastern Afghanistan, which resulted in at least three fatalities and four injuries. Sources familiar with the matter indicated that these strikes occurred around 3 AM local time, targeting a house in the Batani area of Nurghal. Additional attacks were also reported in the Barmal district of the border province of Paktika.

The military actions are occurring against a backdrop of heightened tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Islamabad had previously accused Afghan interim government officials of harboring elements of the Pakistani Taliban, who were allegedly responsible for carrying out attacks against Pakistan. The Taliban administration in Afghanistan has, however, refuted these allegations.
