“Ruhullah Amin”, head of the climate change department of the Taliban’s National Environmental Protection Agency, said: “The issue of climate change is related to the citizens of Afghanistan, and the world should not associate climate change with the political issue of this country.” He added: We have followed up several meetings with international colleagues through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but unfortunately, the Secretary of the UN Climate Change Convention has not sent an invitation to Afghanistan due to political considerations. The 28th climate change meeting of the United Nations or COP will be held in the United Arab Emirates by the convention of this organization. and needs more cooperation in the fight against climate change. “Zabihullah Mujahid”, the spokesman of the Taliban government, also said: “The environment does not belong to one country, it is related to the whole region and the world, so the government should Afghanistan should also be invited and Kabul’s position should be heard in these meetings and cooperation with Afghanistan should be done in this regard. They face serious damages.
The Kabul government had previously emphasized that Afghanistan is the sixth country affected by climate change in the world, while it contributes less than 1% to the emission of greenhouse gases.
