According to Mehr News Agency quoted by Rashatodi, “Patrick Ryder”, the press spokesman of the US Department of Defense (Pentagon), announced that “Lloyd Austin”, the Minister of Defense of this country, once again intends to perform “a selective and minimally invasive surgical procedure”. and for this reason, he has temporarily transferred his powers to his deputy, Kathleen Hicks.
The Pentagon spokesman added: Lloyd Austin will undergo surgery on Friday night (local time) at Walter Reed Hospital, National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, and his deputy will do.
He also said: This surgery is related to Lloyd Austin’s bladder problem, which he suffered from the surgery he underwent last few months to treat prostate cancer.”
The US defense minister who was hospitalized in Walter Reed military hospital in February last year. At that time, the Pentagon also announced in a statement that Austin was admitted to Walter Reed Hospital due to kidney complications and will be treated under general anesthesia.
Austin’s doctors also released a statement about his condition, saying that his kidney problem was related to his prostate cancer, which was operated on in December.
The Pentagon was heavily criticized during Austin’s hospitalization in December for several days of delay in notifying the White House and Congress.
