China: America should not give wrong signal to Taiwan separatists
The spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry asked the US to stop sending false messages to Taiwan separatists. |
report Mehr News Agency quoted by Sputnik, Mao Ning, the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, referring to the recent statements of US President Joe Biden about the possibility of Washington’s military intervention in Beijing’s possible attack on Taiwan, said that Washington should stop sending false messages to Taiwan’s separatists.
Biden has claimed that if China attacks Taiwan, America will not neglect the military option to defend this island. In an interview with the Times, Biden said that “it depends on the situation” in response to the question of what kind of options the United States has on the table if China attacks Taiwan and whether these options include sending ground forces.
He said about Washington’s reaction in case of a possible Chinese attack on Taiwan: the option of using American military forces is on the table. Of course, there is a difference between sending land, air and sea forces.
Ning said about this: We ask the US to stop sending any kind of wrong signal to the forces supporting Taiwan separatists.
Taiwan has been governed autonomously since 1949, but Beijing considers it part of its territory. Beijing condemns any contact and diplomatic communication of foreign countries, including the United States, with Taipei and considers it a violation of the “One China” principle.
