After two weeks of protests against the government’s plan to increase taxes, President William Ruto Kenya announced that it has given up on the implementation of this plan.

More than 30 people were killed and dozens were injured in the protests in Kenya. The protests were accompanied by police violence and the use of live ammunition against the protesters who stormed the parliament.

During the protests, the Kenyan police tried to disperse Demonstrators in front of the Parliament of Kenya opened fire on the protesters. Parts of the Kenyan parliament building were also set on fire during the protests, while the lawmakers present in the parliament had approved the tax increase bill.
