Libya’s willingness to join BRICS
Mohammed al-Hawij, Minister of Economy and Trade of the National Unity Government of Libya, told Ryannews: Libya is interested in joining international economic organizations, including BRICS, which is beneficial to the country’s economy.
The Foreign Minister of Libya said: BRICS member countries are a global economic group for the exchange of benefits between member countries, and Libya is ready to participate in any economic organization that can benefit from it and choose the right time for this.
He said that Libya welcomes any action that leads to the improvement of the standard of living of its people and global economic stability.
In late May, Russian Deputy Defense Minister, Colonel General Yunusbek Yukurov, visited Benghazi, where he met with the command of the Libyan National Army. This was the fifth visit of Russian officials to Libya since last August.
Last year, about 40 countries either submitted their application for BRICS membership or expressed serious interest in expanding cooperation with BRICS. The importance of BRICS membership is doubling; Because BRICS no longer sees itself as a small economic coalition, but a group of 9 countries with more than 36% of GDP in various continents, which is also active in the fields of security and culture.
