According to the report of Tasnim news correspondent, Hossein Amirabdollahian The Minister of Foreign Affairs of our country met and discussed with “Rashid Murdof”, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, on the sidelines of the meeting of the foreign ministers of the countries bordering the Caspian Sea in Russia.
In this The meeting discussed the latest developments in bilateral relations as well as regional developments.
Today, the foreign ministers of the countries neighboring the Caspian Sea met with the presence of the foreign ministers of Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan was held in Moscow.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of our country said in this meeting: holding the meeting of foreign ministers of the Caspian coastal countries is always a great opportunity to think about the issues of this It provides the sea as well as regional and international issues and develops and strengthens the five-way cooperation in the Caspian Sea. I hope this summit will also lead to more activity in all areas of cooperation in the Caspian Sea. I would like to sincerely thank Mr. Lavrov for his invitation and the hosting of the Russian Federation to hold the summit.
We need to strengthen collective interaction and cooperation as much as possible. We have no choice but to move towards the institutionalization and structuring of cooperation in the Caspian Sea. And in this regard, it is necessary to create a secretariat or an organization that can manage and monitor all areas of cooperation in the Caspian Sea.
Amir Abdullahian stated: Iran welcomes the development of a sea-based economy and joint investments in the fields of maritime transport, ports and navigation, fisheries, maritime tourism, the creation of free trade zones and reasonable and sustainable exploitation of the living resources of the Caspian Sea. It is necessary to strengthen the economic and commercial cooperation and transportation in the Caspian Sea as the driving engine for the development and prosperity of the coastal countries. Holding “Caspian Economic Conferences” is a suitable platform for strengthening collective cooperation in the Caspian. Unfortunately, the holding of the third Caspian economic conference with the presence of the prime ministers in Tehran was postponed despite the prior agreement and coordination of all the coastal countries and the plans made. We intend to propose a new date for holding this conference at the level of the prime ministers of the Caspian coastal countries. There is no doubt that the regular holding of this conference and the implementation of its decisions will provide the economic interests of all five coastal countries. He said: Currently, there are many environmental threats and challenges in front of us, the solution of which requires the collective cooperation of the five coastal countries. One of the most important challenges is the threat of lowering the water level of the Caspian Sea caused by human and non-human factors, including the reduction of the water volume of the rivers entering the Caspian Sea, climate change, the construction of dams and reservoirs, and industrial and agricultural facilities along the river. entrances to the Caspian Sea. Unfortunately, the continuation of the backwater of the Caspian Sea in recent years has had negative effects on port and shipping facilities, the ecosystem, aquatic life and the unique wetlands of the Caspian Sea, and has caused an increase in pollutants in the coastal provinces of the Caspian Sea. Solving this problem definitely requires the collective determination of the five coastal countries. We ask the “Working Group of High-ranking Officials on Caspian Sea Issues” to put this issue on their agenda and priority with the cooperation of the relevant institutions in the five coastal countries and with a scientific and operational perspective.
