France: Cyber attacks are inevitable during the Olympics
French Prime Minister Gabriel Atal says cyber attacks on the Paris Olympics will be “inevitable” and France is doing everything it can to limit the impact of such attacks on the sporting event.
According to Reuters, Atal clarified: “We are a target. There will also be cyber attacks. The key is to limit their influence”.
Dale Buckner, CEO of the security company Global Guardian, announced that one of the biggest threats against France to host the Olympics could come from an invisible source, which is cyber attacks. These attacks can damage the electricity, communication or transportation networks of this country.
According to the report of the cyber security company “Kaspersky”, almost 25% of free Wi-Fi networks in Paris are poorly encrypted or not encrypted at all. This means that tourists who use the wireless internet of these networks may face the theft of sensitive data, including their credit card details.
