One of the dangerous rebels was sentenced to 20 years in prison on January 6
According to Webangah News quoted by Mehr News Agency quoted by BBC World, one of the defendants of the January 6, 2021 riot that was provoked by Donald Trump, the former president of the United States, with the aim of returning the results of the 2020 presidential election of this country to the Congress building. He was attacked, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The US Attorney announced that 37-year-old David Dempsey was one of the most dangerous members of the rebels who participated in the January 20 riots. According to the prosecutor, he attacked the congressional security forces with “hands, feet, flag poles, hand sticks, pepper spray, pieces of broken equipment” and wounded two police officers.
U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth told Dempsey that “what he did on January 6 was eminently inexcusable.”
During the January 6th protests, more than a thousand people were arrested and hundreds of people were convicted on charges related to this riot.
The only person who has received a longer sentence than Dempsey is Enrique Tario, the leader of the far-right group Proud Boys. Tario was sentenced to 22 years in prison on charges of conspiracy and sedition to lead attacks and riots.
