1,500 Ukrainians were convicted of “cooperation with Russia”.
report Mehr News Agency, the English newspaper The Times announced that nearly 1,500 people in Ukraine have been convicted of collaborating with Russia, and 98% of them requested to participate in the prisoner exchange program between Moscow and Kyiv.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine, more than 8 thousand criminal cases have been opened since the beginning of the Russian military operation in Ukraine.
The punishment for high treason in Ukraine is 15 years in prison, life imprisonment, and confiscation of property.
Those accused of cooperating with Russia may be sentenced to pay 17,000 hryvnias ($4,100) or 3 to 5 years in prison.
